Battery storage over winter

I've been keeping my batteries on board over the winter in Connecticut. I presume the yard winterizes them, and they just sit there all winter. Recently read an article that they should be kept indoors and recharged frequently. How bad is it to leave them onboard over the winter? How do other people deal with this? Thanks for your thoughts.

Keep'm on board and charged up. They'll last a longer. What kills a battery is letting it get to low on charge and leaving it that way.

If you give'm a slow charge allllll the way up and disconnect them, they'll stay that way for months.

I bring them in the house, where it is easy to put a charger on them once a month.
