Battery Life Planning

Hey guys I had a quick question on battery life and how to extend it. So for the battery on my boat is there a "danger zone" for the amount of volts left in the battery that will diminish its life? Is there a "butter" zone to keep the voltage to ensure a long lasting battery? Thanks for your answers they are always a huge help
