Battery charging relay switch

I suffer 0.7-volt battery drop while charging through a battery-isolation diode on a new-to-me Tayana 37, which makes charging a nightmare.

In the 1996 edition of BMEM, Nigel Calder discusses replacing such a diode with a charging relay to overcome the battery drop. It appears to be an uncomplicated solution.

Can anyone recommend a brand/model of charging relay that is reliable?

Google Automatic Charging Relay and you will find a few. Blue Sea make a good one that can be auto or manual.

I'll second that! I have a 50 amp and a 100 amp which work perfectly.

Yes, unlimited warranty. We were struck by lightning which, among many other things, took out both our 12yr old West Marine brand Yandina combiners. Even though these were not bought from Yandina and were not even Yandina brand (Yandina provided OEM to WM for a time), Yandina offered free replacement with new - no questions asked.

By far, Yandina is the best support in the marine industry. Name me another company that would give you free replacements for a product that took a direct lightning strike!
