Battery Charger Question

Hope I'm in the right place. My equipment may be less than that of others who post here. Anyway, here goes nothing:

I have a Schumacher SCI361 marine battery charger. I was supposed to set it for charge + maintenance, but I inadvertently set it for charge, only. That was 24 hours ago. When I checked this morning, the same two lights were lit: "10A" and "On."

I assume this means the battery was charging, and was continuing to charge at full blast.

I unplugged it, but have I done any damage? Thanks for any help.

Re: Battery Charger Question

That's an automatic battery charger. Sounds like your batteries were well down. No damage done.

Re: Battery Charger Question

Hi, John. Welcome to the forum!
What type of battery do you have?
If flooded lead acid, I would check that the electrolyte is still covering the plates.
I would also check the battery voltage level after running something like a light or a pump for a bit to discharge any surface charge, so you get a better reading.

Re: Battery Charger Question

Maine Sail is not fond of Schumaker chargers, here's one of many posts where he comments:

It would be wise of you to check the charging voltages as he suggests.

Re: Battery Charger Question

I just want to thank every one who welcomed me, and responded to my question. I had a rough time getting back onto the site, but some black belt webmaster got me straightened out. I think.
