Anchor Winch Attached to Bow Thruster

I have an anchor winch conected to a bow battery and no connection to the engine bats. Does anyone know if you could connect the winch to the bow thruster rather than have to run another set of bat cables back to the engine?

Check the power consumption on the thruster. It may surprise you.

Theres no reason, IMO, that the two items couldn't share the same feed cables.
Check that the cables are big enough for the most hungry user, and don't use them at the same time
I would take the fused feeds to + and - buss bars, and seperate feed the two items on fused cables.

You have a battery in the bow or a battery in the back of the boat with a cable run to the front that you are calling a bow battery. Makes a difference.

Re: Anchor Winch Attached to Bow Thruster

Mos anchor winches eat amps like ants eat sugar. My winch only works when the engine is running (yes, i know, I have a back-up anchor I can toss overboard if my engine fails at a critical moment). The winch also has a manual (oh my aching back) back-up

Re: Anchor Winch Attached to Bow Thruster

Got it thanks.

So there should be little to no issue sharing the forward battery. I presume you are doing another short run to the bow thruster with appropriate circuit protection.

As others have said you may look at battery capacity upgrade if you plan to run both at the same time. That's a pretty big draw.
