Alternative to Maretron Data Logger (VDM100)

I installed a Maretron Data Logger (VDM100) a couple of months ago. It worked for a short while but then stopped working -- indicating that there was no USB stick. I contacted Maretron, they told me to format the USB stick, I tried, but none of my systems would let me. When I found another 16GB USB stick, formated it to FAT32, and it worked again -- for about a week. Now, same issue.

I'm really disappointed with Maretron. Their support tries, but their product just isn't what I would expect for the money they charge.

Anyhow -- and suggestions for alternatives? I've some my Google-research, but I am keen to get some recommendations from those who have a NMEA2000 data recorder (that's not from Maretron).

It is all a bit annoying because Maretron uses proprietary sentences, so I doubt a non-Maretron recorder could capture data from all of our Maretron sensors.

I have the Yacht Devices unit. It uses micro SD cards. Works great.

Maretron has been sold To Carling Technology and the brains behind the products have left.

Luckily a new company has stepped up with fresh innovative products incl. Voyage recorder. It is Yacht Devices and they have a US rep as well.

Here’s a product that would work for you: https://yachtdevicesus.com/collectio...ecorder-ydvr-0

Raspberry pi with nmea adapter. Easy and cheap. There is enough info on the openplotter forums that anyone computer literate can do it, if you have the interest.
