Re: Air Breeze

What are the blue blades made of? My Air X caught a sea gull when it was blowing about 30 and it made a hell of a mess out of the blades and the gull. Are the blue blades a similar glass reinforced resin material?

Re: Air Breeze

I dont know exactly. They are black, moulded ,and I assume have some kind of fibre reinforcement.
I was wondering about birds.Maybe we should put some white on one of the blades?

I wouldn't recommend putting anything on just one of the blades (balance).

Am looking at getting a Silentwind generator by Spreco out of Europe. Seems to better made than most, and more and more of the Air X / Breeze owners are switching to their blades as more efficient and much quieter. Apparently Silentwind is AC converted at regulator to DC. Cannot find a US source. Any comments?

Re: Air Breeze

I had a cruiser friend visit our boat.He said that even though our air breeze is brand new,we do not have the latest blades. Also, the nose cone makes noise.I made it quieter by removing the clip on cone.

Re: Air Breeze

I have had the Air Breeze for the last year, Am I happy with it...yes very. Would I buy another one later....yes. If I had the money I would love a D400, but at 3x the cost of a AB the AB wins. I get annoyed by any wind generator that is left on in the marina there is no need if you are on shore power. At least the AB shuts down when it detects a greater charge source or the stop switch is thrown. I have Wind and solar, but there are still times when you need the engine to top off the battery's. As far as noise it does not make anything more than a whoosh sound if it makes that whooshchishchis noise it is not an Air Breeze.
