AC Panel Location

i just purchased a new blue seas main panel and sub panels for my catalina. it hasnt had any ac into the boat as of yet. i would like to mount my panel above the galley on the port side as this is the closest location to the shore power inlet and would like to keep my runs as short as possible. so my question is will there be any issues with mounting my panel here?

thanks everyone.

ABYC E-11 requires a double pole circuit breaker in the shore power supply. If the length along the conductor from inlet to the double pole breaker on the panel board is > 10', than a secondary circuit breaker is required within 10' of the shore power inlet.

You must also ensure that you are taking into consideration the, sometimes wet, conditions found in a galley when locating the panel board there.

that was my concern ie steam from boiling water etc... but that being said would think that something rated for marine would be resistant to such moisture. and it would be up above the galley approx 16inches.

If it is right at the stove or sink I would say best not to.... just to save a few feet of wire. If it is a couple feet away from these issues maybe OK...

Intermittent misting with hot water vapour from boiling, and grease from frying, may be among the most difficult conditions your electrical panel could face.

Check out the Catalina 27/270 Owner’s site:
http://www.catalina27.org/
They have a plethora of information, photos, FTPs, and etc. on these boats:
