A salesman told me an MPPT charger triples solar panel output?

we have 1.4Kw of solar, spread across 5 panels

with these 5 panels we have 3 victron mppt controllers (port set / stb set & aft set), which to us seems a nice balance between complexity, cost & efficiency

but i mainly wanted to say that there are a whole range of factors which go into an efficient array - all of which should be considered. eg ventilation under the panels is really important (something that flexible panels mounted directly on to the deck miss out on.

Actually averaged over a day or longer the MPPT feeding from panels in series might achieve three times that of a series controller fed from parallel wired panels.

I have two systems of house batteries, one using series wired panels to an MPPT controller to a lithium battery and one using parallel wired panels to series controllers to LA batteries and the MPPT starts charging well before the series controllers in the mornings and continues longer in the afternoons and on overcasts days charges when the series controllers don't charge at all.
