50A 125V

We have a 125V 50 A to 2-30 A splitter but I have never seen a 125V 50A source.

We plan to go to the Bahamas and other Caribbean Islands next year and, never having been there, are wondering if we should hang on to this thing or remove it to reduce clutter in our storage locker.

Thanks
Allen

I'd hang on to it. A lot of marinas that cater to the larger yachts will have 50A pedestals. You may never need it but then that one time that you do....

Re: 50A 125V

Most 50A pedestals are the more modern 50A 125/250V 4 wire setup. 50A 125V 3 wire was never very common. I've got twin 50A 125V inlets on my boat, but I've only ever once seen a marina with matching plugs. Normally I'm using an adapter to split the 50A 125/250V connection into 2 50A 125V connections or adapters to a pair of 30A 125V connections.

Re: 50A 125V

So, the adapter that would be useful to me here on the US East coast would start with a
CS6365N plug? I want to make up an adapter in case the transient slip doesn't have a 30 amp 125 v receptacle available.

Re: 50A 125V

Our boat is has a single 30A-125V plug. We carry a 50A-125/250V plug to 30A-125V socket adaptor to use when there is no available 30A-125V socket on a marina pedestal. That adaptor is all that we have ever needed except for a single time we used our 15A/20A-125V plug to 30A-125V socket adaptor when that was the only current source available. We have used our boat since 2004 between Baltimore and the Bahamas and have never failed to be able to plug in.

Re: 50A 125V

I probably should have mentioned that we have dual 30 A connections on our boat and usually use a 50 A 125V\250V to 30 A splitter. This splitter has a different 50 A plug on it.

Do I need both splitters?

I'd keep the 50A 125/250V splitter. The 125V one can likely be relegated to the spare boat parts pile at home.

So I won't be needing it along the ICW or in the Caribbean?

In the US I'd say it's very unlikely. For the Caribbean you may want to check for some more local knowledge, but I don't think that connector is common anywhere at this point.
