My existing battery bank system has no fuzes that I can see.
I do have breakers for windlass, heads & inverter.
It seems that 30 year's ago they didn't need all these fuzes.
I am trying to justify spending near $50 per fuze and holder?
$500 to $600.
What are the risks really..
I am thinking of making my own fuze holder's which would will save me a about $200.

Re: 5 batteries one red.

Buy the Blue Sea Systems "add a battery" kit. Best and most economical charge control relay, and the included double pole double throw isolation switch is the way to go IMHO.

With one turn of rhe switch you can turn the engine battery on for the engine and the house bank on to the house panel and they stay seperate until sufficient charge voltage is there to have the charging relay automatically combine them. When charging stops they automatically separate again. It doesn'tatternwhat the charge source is -alternator, solar charger, wind charger, shorepower battery charger, it all works with the relay if it is wired according to the included directions.

Stingy? No. Just think the price of those fuzes are a rip-off when compared to AC components.
I suppose what I am looking for are good quality alternatives

Here is my latest diagram. It's laid out as it actually is onboard my boat. Note that the house bank is split.
I have also incorporated the Blue Sea add a battery kit. Could someone look at the way I have it wired at let me know if it will work?
Ony other comments are welcome.
I still have to size my wiring and fuses.
