3GM30F has 1400 hours, mostly running between 2500-3000 rpm
. The engine coolant water
pump's pulley is clearly loose, one can wiggle it by hand. I suspect a bearing has failed. I am replacing the pump
with a new Yanmar pump
and I have two questions.
1. Is it common for a water pump
failure to occur at 1400 hours?
2. Is it worth rebuilding the old pump to have as a spare.
