Wind vane / transducer location on the Lagoon 400S2, test, setup & how to fix it

Hi there. I have a problem with my wind direction sensor - sort off.

It shows me only angles between -30 to 30 degrees, it is a iTC-5 E70010 according my readings.

I aligned it via the settings (Align Wind Xdcr), I can manually adjust it to meet the current wind direction, but this does not really help. I tried to 'Calibrate WindXdrc', circling around about 20 times, it dit not work, so i stopped - lookt funny to other circling for an hour in the bay. It transmits some data, it turns 360 degree, but it does not show this on the instruments.

I am not sure how to fix it, and where the iTC-5 is located in the L400. Wind speed is working however, and mechanically the wind vane looks ok, she is pointing to the wind, so it seems to be a electric problem.

Any hints how to test it or to fix it are highly appreciated.

Thank you very much!

Fond the iTC, it was behind a panel on the seat bench in the salon, next to the main switch board (about 50cm on the left). Still no idea how to test the vane.

Sorted it out myself.

found this webpage:

http://forum.raymarine.com/showthread.php?tid=97

I could measure it at the iTC-5 wire connectors with a Voltmeter.

Voltage on green to ground was 6.8V, so sin / cos was only sin and overvoltage. Dameged electronics in the wind vane masthead unit. Replaced it and now works as expected.

Maybe someone find this information useful.

Neat, thanks for the Info.

I'm having issues calibrating my wind-vane for all angles, so will take a look at that.

And yes, sailing in circles calibrating (either compass or wind) does look kinda hilarious...

Regards

Mark.
