Not sure the obsession with putting jerry cans on deck like some cruiser badge of honor⚓️

I think like most decisions with respect to boats it depends on where you will be travelling and how you travel. In Micronesia we have spent months between petrol being available and we enjoy spearfishing and kite surfing so we have requirement for multiple cans. If we were cruising in NZ or BC then no we could just rely on the fuel tank in the tender. The multiple jerry cans have been useful as fuel docks are also pretty rare and involve a long dingy trip.

I have often wondered why there aren't such CanTanks, or am I just being cantankerous in my desires?
Great play on words....the only issue I would see maybe the length of the fuel hose from the dinghy seat to the outboard.

Re: Where do you store your dingy fuel?

When you say you lash 5g tanks on deck, does that mean to stanchions? Or is there a better place?

If you use stanchions, is there a concern of a wave boarding the vessel and tearing off a stanchion?

Also, I know it's not safe to store gas inside the hull. Is it safe to store diesel inside? I think that flammability isn't an issue, but smell may be. So, I thought I'd ask.

In the cockpit.
5x20L + 20L in the tender.
Soon to have a 300L tank up top to gravity feed down.
