I mounted mine on the stb side rear stanchion. It is a rectangular magma, and the long side of the grill is inline with the
hull (sorry, not near the
boat, so no pics, but will look for one later).
I have determined this is NOT a good place, it needs to be behind the boat , not on the side. The issue is at least at
mooring and
anchor, the boat points into the
wind, and then the
wind comes directly down the
hull and the grill. Makes it hard to light, hard to heat up being constantly in the wind.
If I placed it next to the
davits, the
salon coachroof breaks the wind (no comments about this and gas and grill pls;-). I will move it here next year, the issue is that at least on the 380, it is crowded there. I think I might sail with it on the side, then move it to use it , not hard to do with handle that screws the clamp tight. On the larger boats, you might have more space there.
