Where Did You Mount Your Grill?

I recently purchased Lagoon 400 #36, which came with a 15" Magma gas grill in severe need of replacement. The existing grill is mounted on the aft starboard stanchion.

I'd like to replace it with one of the Magma rectangular grills, but it looks like the only place to mount it would be on the railing at the stern above the davits and life raft.

Which type if grill did you get for your 400 (round or rectangular)?

Where did you mount it?

Thanks,
Tom

Re: Where Did You Mount Your Grill?

I mounted mine on the stb side rear stanchion. It is a rectangular magma, and the long side of the grill is inline with the hull (sorry, not near the boat, so no pics, but will look for one later).

I have determined this is NOT a good place, it needs to be behind the boat , not on the side. The issue is at least at mooring and anchor, the boat points into the wind, and then the wind comes directly down the hull and the grill. Makes it hard to light, hard to heat up being constantly in the wind.

If I placed it next to the davits, the salon coachroof breaks the wind (no comments about this and gas and grill pls;-). I will move it here next year, the issue is that at least on the 380, it is crowded there. I think I might sail with it on the side, then move it to use it , not hard to do with handle that screws the clamp tight. On the larger boats, you might have more space there.

Just my 2c.

Thumbs up Re: Where Did You Mount Your Grill?

We have had the baby webber Q mounted on the aft hand rail over 5 years now, I have replaced the grill plate once and may have to replace again in the near future otherwise after 6000 miles it has held up well, I would go for the black lid one as the cream lid does discolour a bit, also the lid coating does suffer a bit of corrosion.

Re: Where Did You Mount Your Grill?

On my Son-in-Law's boat!

Yes, I did have a grill for a few months, but grilling? ....'that's just not going to happen. I'm too easily satisfied with simple foods than to make a chore of it!

I know many don't understand this, but there's a huge supply of cheap, healthy, nutritious foods that don't require special equipment.

I know... I know.... "Blasphemy" for some, but I don't need any advice or attempts to change my mind. Leave me my can opener, raw vegetables and microwave oven.
