Water pumps re-furb

Just in the process of re-furbishing the water pumps on our 6 year old lagoon 380. Sea water has been leaking from the pumps and they are in a right old mess as you can see. The clean one was soaked in citric acid solution and then a light wire brushing. New pumps are about £400 each... the parts to do a full re-furb cost about £40 !! so a big saving. Bearings cost a fortune from Yanmar, but standard stainless steel replacements are about £5 each ( and the Yanmar ones are not even stainless )

Re: Water pumps re-furb

Hi to the Haywoods. I know your post about re-furbishing your water pumps was quite a while ago. But I'd like to know if the project was successful?

Please LMK,

Thanks

Hi there. Yes that was 8 years ago !! The refurb was a success but we did sell the boat 3 years later so I can’t confirm how it went after that.
