Trying to find motor

Trying to find out replacement motor for a 2001 lagoon 410...

Was there different motors put in....I think it is a yanmar 27 HP

I am thinking of buying this boat....but there is currently engine problems on one of them. ( was overheated )

I am thinking it is easier to just buy a new motor (currently 6000 hours on it) and having it mailed to the virgin islands and replacing it

anyone know how to look up motor (I have the identification number of the boat)

Any idea how much would one of these costs.....Contact info?
Thanks in advanced
Troy

Re: Trying to find motor

Are you in St Thomas? There's a great diesel guy there who rebuilt one of my 3GM30's. Name is Butch something I think... he seemed fair and "got 'er done" fast and reasonable.

Naw....I am in North Dakota....the wife and I are flying down to Peurto Rico in April and planning to buy a boat.....with a diesel motor problem....just wondering how much a pain in the butt it will be to get a brand new motor.
Thanks, Troy

Re: Trying to find motor

our 410 had two Yanmar 3GM30F.

No clue how much it will cost to replace in that part of the world. Here I have seen an unused 3YM30 including saildrive (unfinished boat project) for 7.000 € on a site similar to craigslist. Brand new from dealer roughly twice as much.

I would not necessarily replace the engine. If you can find a good diesel guy rebuilding a 6000hr engine should be possible, depending on the damage caused by the overheating.
We paid ~3500 € in Spain for rebuilding one of the Yanmars after dilluted oil killed all bearings. It was literally like new afterwards.
