I am not sure why one would even put a mast on it....

It looks like the helm is on different sides of the boat in each rendering. Perhaps you can choose which side you want it on??

Re: The New Lagoon 450

We are close to ordering and found out that you can get two styles of steering stations. Also the galley will be rotated 90 degrees clockwise so you don't have to walk all the way into the cabin then make a U turn to go into the galley space.
We haven't heard that you could pick a port or starboard side for the new helm.

Re: The New Lagoon 450

One of the KEY points of this model is the top deck where you can have up to 5-6 people with you, we spend 99% of our time up top, you would have to think carefully about removing it.

If you have not experienced the helm on the current model l would recommend doing so before you choose your preference 😃

Re: The New Lagoon 450

No chance I would want the helm below - for how we sail at least. Maybe the helm below gives you better performance as I assume the boom is lower with the same size mast.

Re: The New Lagoon 450

What is "above" and "below" helms in those pictures? To me, they look identical - only on different sides of the boat. Both appear to be raised bulkhead helms (for lack of a better term describing something between a bulkhead and flybridge helm).

BTW, what is the displacement of the new L450? The old one was the heaviest pig out there. Hopefully they shaved some weight off it.

Re: The New Lagoon 450

That's the 'sport top' version.

So similar to the L400 helm. Personally I wouldn't like the bridgedeck helm of the current 450 for a sailing couple. Too much separation from each other when on and off watch. Previously the main contender for our next boat was the Helia 44. I think it's a good idea to offer the sport top version. I for one would consider it, but for now the L400 is more than enough space and cleaning for the two of us
I know most L440 and L450 owners love the bridgedeck helm, but it have met one owner who hated it for the reasons mentioned above. Horses for courses.

Re: The New Lagoon 450

The two renderings are the L52 and the L450. The L450 has the starboard helm.
I'd guess weight would still be around 15T for the 450

Snip

In response to demand on the part of some customers for large catamarans available in a more conventional version, Lagoon is extending its range with a hard top version (without flybridge) of the Lagoon 450 and 52. The two models featuring a conventional helm station and lowered rig for the Sport Top version, available in the summer of 2015, will give a whole new meaning to the idea of comfort according to Lagoon

So that would make the L52 the more dangerous boat?

I think you hit the nail on the head monte "I know most L440 and L450 owners love the bridgedeck helm". There are reasons for that.

The New Lagoon 450

We love it and so does everyone else we have had on the boat as everyone spends 99% of their time up top, but l can understand that some may not ✌

I am guessing for the very same reason " In response to customer demand for large catamarans with a bridge deck" Fountaine Pajot and Catana are now releasing Bridge Deck versions in their range.

Up, down, inside, outside one hull or two what ever floats your boat.

Just cast off that line, get out there and enjoy it.

Re: The New Lagoon 450

It's easy, 4 or more people get a fly bridge, 4 people or less get the sport version. 4 people... um depends on the people.
