I recently purchased a second hand but never used symmetrical
spinnaker for our L39. I rigged it with port and starboard stand up blocks on the bow of each
hull, 3 spin lock bull eyes on each
hull leading line aft and foot blocksto lead the guy lines to each
winch. The
spinnaker sheets run from each clew to blocks attached to a pad eye and then to the
winch. The spinnaker is made by Incidences and includes a dousing sock. We flew it last week, the TWS was only 3 to 4 knots on our first launching which was fine with me. We flew it later in the week in 10 knots TWS and made 6 knots. We made a few
mistakes, for example releasing a guy line under load and watched it zing through all of the
deck hardware and
rigging it with red luff tape on starboard side but in the end we really enjoyed flying it.
I would appreciate feedback on the method you use to launch, trim and douse your spinnaker.
Cheers,
Tony
