Plumbing Connections

Does anyone know the type of water pipe connectors that are used on the Lagoon 400. I have looked at the Whale and the Sharkbite brand but they don't look the same as whats onboard. Not having much luck talking with Lagoon either.
Thanks
Graham

Hi,

take a picture and post it - that's better than guesswork.

That looks like John guest SpeedFit. Check this site to compare:

Re: Plumbing connections

Why worrying about an exact match. What you need are fittings using O-rings and shark teeth to fit metric PEX style pipe. ANy plumbing house will have them in metric land.

Re: Plumbing Connections

EDIT: I see this is a Lagoon section, so I will post this in the plumbing section instead.

I have speedfit on my boat as well, although I can't rule out that there are some other brands mixed in that I haven't seen yet. It's all in 15mm red and blue hoses (well, most of it). I want to add some non-return valves as well as stop valves here and there.

Can I add in other brands, or should I stick to John Guest Speedfit?

Transom water hose - has hot and cold, which is nice, however, it's routed such that if I open both hot and cold, and a cold tap is open inside, it will route hot water through the transom shower, into the cold tap! This for instance if the valves are on but the push-button on the shower-head isn't pressed. That is where I want to install non-return valves.

The cold water doesn't have many shut-off valves, so I want to add some. Fixing my watermaker at the moment, I can't switch the fresh water supply off without depressurising the whole water system. Also, in case of any leak, it is really useful to be able to isolate the leak.

Since my local shop (West M) doesn't seem to have JG Speedfit, I was considering if I could use the Whale quick connect parts.

Re: Plumbing Connections

I get these fittings from AHS in Brookvale NSW PH1300765139
Also Bosuns Locker in Newport. Have had to replace a few of them that had small pin holes.

You can use any fittings that fit your tubing and you don't have to buy them at a marine store. Home center and hardware stores are good sources. "Sharkbite" fittings are good but they are expensive and because they are metal, they are heavy and may need to be supported. Plastic (like you have now) should be fine.

Would the quality be the same? We know that anything for a boat or aircraft is more expensive than fixed installations. I don't care what the name is, as long as it works, and keeps working.
