We are excited to announce a new Lagoon 40, modeled on the L 39 hulls but with the cockpit of the L 42.
This model will slot into the line-up between the L 380 and L 42. It will be available in 3 or 4 cabins with 2 heads with separate showers or 4 heads with built in showers.

The full retail price will be available in Summer 2017

It is not a 40ft boat.
Length: 38.5
Beam: 22.17
Mast 60.43

I'm not sure how this is supposed to replace the L400. They should have kept the 400 and name this the new 38. So disappointing. I was really hoping this was an improved L400.

The Lagoon 50 = 48.4 feet

Lagoon 380 will be discontinued once the new Lagoon 40 = 38.5 footer comes to market.

Lagoon 380 is a dated design that was long due for a refresh.

Seems like no one wants to name there catamarans under 40 feet anymore.

The article doesn't say. It will be interesting to see how the Beneteau Group differentiates Lagoon and the new brand. Price, performance, focus, etc. I feel the Lagoons are becoming very charter focused and that sometimes detracts from things a private owner may look for. To get the 5th and 6th bedroom in the new 50 must really cut into the bridge-deck clearance. I recently crossed the Atlantic on a L52 and felt the bridgedeck slammed more than it should. No issues on most charter boats though.

I definitely agree. That would certainly my preference. I would certainly be willing to pay more this.

It would seem that the only other direction they could go would even further into the "Charter Only" category with the big patio door up front and a giant veranda instead of a trampoline. I really hope that's not what we see.

I blame FP! They sank low and everyone followed.

It is silly that the Lagoon marketing materials talk about this boat as replacing the 39 and 400 and falling in between the 38 and 42. I think their marketing people probably didn't know this was actually a 38.

Hope they keep the old 380 as an affordable entry level cat.

Hate to say it, but it as to be said. The new Lagoon 40 is just the old 39 "tarted up" with the open but low storage L42 cockpit.

The current L39 has sold pitifully due to competition from the L380 and the L400S2. Both are superior in most respects except "ease of sailing".
