450: Maintenance

So, we just put an offer in on a Lagoon 450. We are very excited. But also concerned.

I know there are a lot of questions out there on how much maintenance costs, but I'm specifically interested in the hearing from 450 owners who are meticulous with maintaining their boats.. I'm assuming that regular maintenance would help your systems last. For example, I know that keeping to a schedule with your diesel engines can help them last forever... (probably an exaggeration.. but you know what I mean)

I know that people always use the 10% rule.. however, it doesn't follow basic logic, in that a well maintained 5 year old boat, would require far less maintenance than a 20 year boat... so, a 5 year old $400,000 boat would be $40,000 where a 20 year old $200,000 would be only $20,000? that doesn't add up.

So, does regular maintenance end up saving that much.. and, could 450 owners chime in with the age of their boat, and on average what you have spent for maintenance?
