Re: Live aboard at anchor drinking?

Just a quick follow up, here's the quoted section from the Ontario law on alcohol consumption on boats. I believe all other provinces have similar legislation:

CONSUMING LIQUOR IN A BOAT,
ONTARIO LIQUOR LICENCE ACT REGULATION 718

Alcohol may be consumed on a boat...

Quote:
Sec. 3 (7) ...with permanent sleeping accommodation and permanent cooking and sanitary facilities, other than a boat used to carry passengers for hire, is considered to be a private place while the boat is at anchor or is secured to the dock or land.

Exactly!
"Drink" also has a wide variety of connotations. A beer will usually take more time to enjoy, than a shot. On a hot afternoon, I typically prefer lower-alcohol choices such as a shandy or radler, as I find them more refreshing, and you can have a few without getting tipsy. Equally, one could enjoy a glass or two of wine during the course of a meal, without going over the line. This of course assumes one can enjoy a drink for its flavour and/or how it might enhance a meal, rather than just for the numbing effects.

Ha ha oh, that’s funny. A. At the time I had the “best anchor money could buy” a “genuine” CQR. There was nothing better back then. (And we know how well they work). And B. Set an alarm. What alarm. This was looooog before GPS, chart plotters or anything even close to this. And C. If my panicked wife couldn’t wake me, no little beep beep would.
However i did have a good sextant on board, the best navigation tool that there was then too. It would have done be about as much good.
Or, wait, what a concept……..not drink so damn muchl! Haha.

You know, I remember that case in Latitude. Pretty screwy for sure. One of those “blue line “ things.
