450: Lagoon 450 anti fouling quotes and calculations

In the process of getting some quotes for anti fouling - my first since buying the boat last year
Owners manual quotes bottom surface area as 58sqm so I will use that for calculating requiring material quantity 2 coats plus extra on leading edges / waterline / rudders Etc
Any points of view on Seajet Ultimate 039 Platinum which on understand is the standard Lagoon product?
I have one quote for labour of 460euro (in Greece) how does that sound? (Thanks but not in the mood for DIY btw)
Will just clean folding props and of course replace all anodes.

Any advice?

Same issue. The yard is getting me 4 Gal of Seahawk. This is probably more than needed, it seems from the above thread I would need about 2.5 to 3 gal, on a 450 I would think 4 to 6? Lagoon's OEM Seajet not popular here in the states, Seahawk got good ratings in last Pratical Sailor test, and my yard is buying that as standard paint unless ask otherwise, so, best pricing. That sounds like a great price!

They put 6 gal. of Seahawk Biocop TF on my 43' cat.

Recently painted 3 coats of Island 44 on our hulls in addition to 2 coats on edges. Total 5 gallons. Plus aluminum paint for the SD's.

Additional work: Inspect your sail drive boot seals from the underside. Replace prop shaft seals if needed (i replace at each hull out regardless). Drain and replace SD oil (yes you can do this from above on SD60's but it doesn't get 100% of the old oil out.). Anodes you've covered. Thoroughly clean all below waterline thru-hulls. Clean, wax and buff your hulls which prolongs the UV protection of your gel coat. Fix any gel coat knicks/damage.

Emerald, good points! Maybe you can give a few tips!

1. How do you clean out thru hulls. My boat is on the hard, some grass , barnacles, and mussels up in there?

2. Procedure you use to drain all the tranny oil from the saildrives.

3. This my first season with a saildrive. Covered in barnacles and grass. What to use to get off (oxy acid i hear works great, but it also takes off metal, so worried about it...), and what do you use if anything to coat saildrive. Propspeed has been recommended to me.

Remove Dipstick #1
Remove Oil Drain plug #4
Drain oil into bucket

1. Simply use a small screw driver or a circular wire brush to remove the debris and barnacles.
2. SD oil removal. At the base of the Sd60 is a drain plug. The rest is explained by Cotrmar above.
3. Without knowing the condition of SD paint and epoxy, first remove all the marine growth (HP waterjet). If your paint, and especially your epoxy barrier coat is damaged then you need to replace it. I would suggest removing all the old paint and epoxy. I used a paint stripper quite successfully - it doesnt take long!. When 100% removed, thoroughly clean with acetone and apply two coats of epoxy. I used a WestMarine epoxy suitable for metallic surfaces (cant recall the exact name). After drying, "lightly" sand and apply at least two coats of marine antifoul paint suitable for aluminum. I have been using International Interspeed 376 without any complaints.

You may want to sprayed some antifouling into the sail drive cooling holes to stop growth inside the drive.

We use a can of Trilux antifoul for aluminum Sail Drives and put a tube on it and sprayed it all over inside the leg.

I was quoted €2200 and €2550 for paint, materials and labour in Turkey.

Antifoul was 15 litre of Micron 77 plus 5lt Primocon

what is the diff on Seajet 033 and 039 ? our cat had 039 from factory, but i cant get it here in Norway, so i use 033 and it work very well. But what is the diff ?
