42: Lagoon 42 TPI Water Tanks

Long time lurker, first time poster... I've recently got my hands on an owners manual and saw in the tankage section that the freshwater tanks are below the decks. Are they tanks placed in the bilge area or are they integral tanks?

I ask as I've got a 1996 owners version and the setup is 90 gallon plastic tanks placed under the bunks in the aft cabins. Seems the right place is under the deck and am thinking of making the switch.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

2019 Lagoon 42 Hull #352 — water tank is in aft part of Anchor Chain Locker (fore deck- port ). Optional 2nd tank available for placement in 2nd forward locker (fore deck-starboard) ...but 42 has a generator which occupies the entire locker, thus eliminating the 2nd water tank. There may he work arounds, but we’ve only had SaltAire for 2 weeks...so that has not been explored.
If you sail in good sea water and can add a desalinator ( aka water maker )...the 2nd tank may be unnecessary.
