400: Lagoon 400 S2

Any info on the new generation 400 S2? All I have been told is that it "will change the 400 into a small 450 with performance in mind", whatever that means.

It's been two and a half years since the release of Lagoon 400, from the beginning of the sale until now been sold worldwide to 260 copies of this particular catamaran.
In order to maintain such a high position of the Lagoon 400 catamaran, in its terms of competition, the shipyard Lagoon has partnered with Nauta Design Office. This famous yacht interior design office has undertaken to work on the interior of the Lagoon 400 so as to give it maximum functionality and provide as much space consuming. The result of this work is stunning! Nauta Design Office has proposed innovative solutions that transform the catamaran Lagoon 400 Lagoon 450 the equivalent of keeping the exact same level of performance.
This new generation will be named 400 Lagoon 400 S2, referring to the predecessors Lagoon 380 S2 and 410 S2.
Lagoon 400S2 catamaran prototype will be presented at the following fairs:
Grand Pavois de La Rochelle: September 19-24, 2012
Genoa International Boat Show: October 6-14, 2012
Miami International Boat Show, February 14-18, 2013
The first copy of catamaran Lagoon 400S2 is no longer your customer and will participate in the next edition of the ARC where the new owner hopes to demonstrate its potential and possibilities.
We do know that the first production of Lagoon 400 S2 will be available in the January 2013 delivery, and the details of the equipment and the new design catamaran We will provide shortly on our website.
Meanwhile, model Lagoon 400 is still available for sale. The current supply contracts is scheduled for November. Important information for all the consideration of purchasing such a unit is the fact that the model Lagoon 400 is available now at a promotional price of an additional discount, 5000, 00 Euro + VAT.

Thanks, Jostalli. I understand that most of the changes are cosmetic, eg bunks on aft cabins will no longer be island beds, but enlarged for greater comfort and taller people. I guess you can call it half island? Also electrics will be moved towards the nav station. The helm will be the same, ie, not flybridge. I will post more info as it is drip fed to me : )

Really good news, I have been torn between the 450 and the 400. Due to most of my sailing time will be solo the smaller cat made more sense. The main detractor was the fit and finish and poor layout of cabinetry. Seems like it's been addressed. I can hardly wait to see her.

I have heard the props of the L400s2 are too high - with any waves they pop up above the water - is this true for the 400, for the 400s2 I assume it is identical ? Any comments anyone ?

Ours is the L400 owned it for nearly 3 years, and we have not had the props pop out of the water.

The props are rather high but do not pop out, at least in my experience (that includes Biscay and similar).
On the other hand - very convenient access if you catch rope on the propeller.

i had detailed look at that.

I was motoring in 5m or so slightly steep waves and every time boat was 'climbing' noise was heard which i immediately contributed to prop being out of water. After detailed inspection figured out that is not so. Prop was doing noise because of hard work. I tried this and that and finally turned on second engine and noise went away.

I bet running with 1 engine in rough seas brings in structural issues down the track.

I will always run both engines when I get that fake 'prop out of water' noise.
