Lagoon 380 (2011) - what does this cable do?

Hi guys, hope to get some expert help here, from L380 owners;
Maybe a "long shot", but does anyone know what this cable is used for (please see pictures) I found this "dis connected" connector, inside the small electrical locker, near the floor in the aft part of the portside hallway.
As I just got the boat, and found this cable is not connected, my fingers are itching to re-connect the two ... it seems to be original Lagoon installed cables, and I hope someone knows what the cable is for (looks like 12 Volt supply cables, but neither end is currently powered...).
The connector has an "E" printed onto the side...some clues anyone??
Cheers
Niels

My boat is the same as yours but doesn't have that connector. Also doesn't have that white cable and the switch at the top of the opening. (switch on the left in the photo)

Short answer, it creates a not so plesant weekend proyect. Get an inspeccion mirror, a good flashlight and follow both ends to see what they lead to (and also get some painkillers for your back) Good luck on your "Treasure Quest".

Although I haven’t used one myself on a boat, I know there are devices that will input a detectable RF signal onto a wire that can be detected with a device similar to a stud finder.
You than of course move the stud finder looking box over the interior wall, filling the wire.

Have you tried sourcing the wiring diagram and looking there? You may get lucky.

I agree I would be too! Having had a 380 S2 sold in February and just bought another (its a long story) I have found several disconnected cables of unknown origin or destination, but this one does look as though it ought to do something. Unfortunately I have been totally unsuccessful getting any communication from lagoon on any topic and Ancasta (UK agents) have been unable to get any sort of wiring diagram other than the one in the manual - about as much use as a chocolate teapot! Have you seen the files section of the 'Lagoon owners Group' pages on FB? Some useful stuff there but mostly for the larger models.
Whereabouts in Spain? Will be in Sant Carles shortly. Good luck.

Beneteau wiring has the reference code printed on every wire. In this case it appears to -686 and +686. Now, if you can find another cable with the ends cut off check and see what it's reference code. Chances are this is for an accessory that wasn't installed (AC, diesel heaters, deck shower, etc.)

The facebook owners group has manuals and wiring diagrams for a many Lagoon models but not this one.

Re: Lagoon 380 (2011) - what does this cable do?

Cheers guys, how very helpful, thank you - I was happy to see so many good suggestions, and have now traced the wires to be terminated behind the chart table bulkhead...back still in pain from trying to trace the other end going aft

@OldPierre; We are heading to Sant Carles de la Rapita, or Roda de Bara for the winter.

Fair winds,
Niels

Re: Lagoon 380 (2011) - what does this cable do?

I have the same wires and connector on a 2008 model, but mine are connected.

The wire coming from down below /aft is active when the nav instruments are switched on at the switch panel.
The switch in the panel just activates a 25A relay under the bed in the port aft cabin which feeds the autopilot.

I can only speculate as I don't have any tool here to trace the wires:
My take is that this wire runs back to the nav area so that larger consumers (chartplotters, radar processors, etc) can be connected to the same relay.

If you want to know for sure: these RF tools described by A64Pilot work quite well and cost only around 10 bucks on ebay (shipping on the slow boat from china of course).

If you want to lift out for winter: Sant Carles boatyard is filling up quickly, our 380 is already on the dry!

Re: Lagoon 380 (2011) - what does this cable do?

BTW, there are NO wiring diagrams that have been made available for the 380. I have been through this will the dealer and the factory. I know there are, it would not be possible to build the boat without one, but they just won't release it. Close to 900 boats made, and no one yet has been able to pry it out of Lagoon's hands. Odd as there are diagrams for some of the newer boats.
