The other day I noticed a bit of rope
attached to mainsail
at the third baton down from top that was flapping and wrapped around our side stay. It did not hinder the dropping of sail as it unwrapped and the sail came down.
This is NOT part of the Square Top head
system (totally separate piece of dyneema) it is another full baton bellow that.
It is 12 strand 3mm single
about 700 mm long attached to a nylon loop sewn to sail just above the baton.
I can not see what it does, so have removed it as I do not want it causing the main to get hung up.
Any ideas of it's purpose?
