L450 F Fresh Water tankage

On the Lagoon web site configuration tool it lists extra fresh water tanks as part of the "Essential Equipment" package.
" Extra fresh water tanks port & starboard 2 x 175L (2 x 46US Gal) "

Can anyone confirm if there are actually 4 tanks totaling 700L when choosing this option or am I understanding it incorrectly?

Dont know the answer but: Get a water maker and keep your tankage small.

You understand that correctly. 2 tanks a 175L standard, 4 tanks = 700L.

Correct and remember one is lost if you spec the Lagoon fit water maker, so you’ll have 525L....

We installed the Watermaker after sale.

i don't want to loose one water tank

one more thing is that with the original water maker you can only fill one tank

Which is not bad for the weight. If you install the watermaker later, you can keep all 4.

Re: L450 F Fresh Water tankage

Thanks everyone!!! As far as water maker goes, here is our plan...

The first four to five years the boat will be in charter and the charter customers should be fine with the water in the four tanks and most likely don't want or need the hassle of managing the water maker. After she comes out of charter I will fit a water maker at that time. I'm banking on technology getting better every year and I will probably put it somewhere else onboard and keep all the tanks even though I will most likely on use a couple with the maker in service.

We have original Deslator Duo 100 lph. It has a two way valve and can fill port and starboard tanks.

Does 4 tanks mean there are 4 fillers on the deck? And 4 tanks on the control panel that show the levels of each? And multiple valves to switch the tanks?

Re: L450 F Fresh Water tankage

With 4 tanks it's still only two fillers and Port/Starboard only quantity selector. The quantity displayed is not linear, worth noting.

The best option is watermaker AND large tankage. You get to choose whether or not you fill those tanks.

There are plenty of polluted rivers and harbours where it's not good to run a watermaker. So, fill up those large tanks and stay a while. If the sea is clean, run the watermaker regularly and keep the tanks low to sail lighter.

Then this must be new from 2017 or late 2016

The idea from Lagoon was to fill only one tank so you can flush back with

Water from the Watermaker.

That´s the reason they did not connect the other tanks to the watermaker

The new system is a better solution

Re: L450 F Fresh Water tankage

I have the dessalator 100 as well and 4 tanks. Watermaker only fills to stb which is OK by me as I keep port tanks for reserve. Do not have a diverter between the two sides so if i want to fill port from stb use deck wash - works OK but very rarely do this in practice. Annoying feature is no alarm when either tank side runs out thus FW pump runs continuously (and quietly) so risk of pump damage if allowed to run for hours etc. Poor gauge accuracy (as mentioned) compounds this risk/problem. Interested if anyone has installed an alarm for low/empty water tank.

Re: L450 F Fresh Water tankage

Bob, you can have the optional 4 tanks but if you take Lagoon's optional watermaker (Desolator DUO100) you will surrender one 175L tank on the port side where this watermaker is installed.

There are two FW fills on the deck, one on each PS/SB side and plumbed to fill both tanks on a given side. You cannot fill individual tanks.
There are two crossovers: one x-over valve for selecting which tank bank the watermaker will fill, the 2nd x-over for selecting which tank bank you are drawing water from (usage). Indeed we keep one always free of chlorinated water for rinsing the watermaker if its not used often (or we can pickle it).
