I do not know where the
cleats are on the L42, but I would start with adding substantial reinforcement on the aft cleats, over and under the
fiberglass, with additional thru bolts. You want to distribute the stress on the
hull.
I added reinforcement on my ex-Lagoon 450 cleats, but I never had to use them. The top cleat reinforcement plate extended past the
hull and it had a hole to attach the
drogue hardware. I attached a crude picture to give you an idea of what I did.
