L 450 Fwd saloon Hatches

Photo of Fwd saloon hatch on L450 less that 3 years old. It is a Lewmar.

The Powder Coat white paint is blistering at the bottom of both and is about to start flaking off, appears to be due to corrosion of the underlying alloy. Should I expect better of this product ?
Is it something that is common to other boats of this age or older?
The Anodized Al flush mounted deck hatches all still look perfect, just these two that have been powder coated that are in the process of corroding.

Hi Paul ours is a 2014 model and as yet we don't have this issue, l would take it up with the agent and get them to take it up directly with Lagoon, keep us updated on the outcome.

Re: L 450 Fwd saloon Hatches

There is a mid-2014 450 here in South Africa (Im withholding the name) which has suffered the exact same fate on these windows. He's reported it to the Lagoon agent here and they apparently will replace under warranty. As for TOT, my 2014 windows are fine but Im watching closely. It may be a batch anomaly.

I am in touch with Lewmar's Australian agent. Appears the Lewmar Warranty is 3 years and my launch date in France appears to be March 2013 so in just in by a month, waiting to see what there response is.

Re: L 450 Fwd saloon Hatches

Just received this email

"Morning Paul,
Good news for you on a Monday morning,Lewmar has approved the warranty on your 2 hatches, they will be sending replacements as we do not hold these in stock. It could take a couple of weeks as they are coming from the U.K.We will then send you the new hatches to change over but will need to have the old ones returned."

So nice to deal with a good company and a good Agent

Big thumbs up to both BLA Australia and Lewmar.

Re: L 450 Fwd saloon Hatches

It is so nice when you have a problem in this case corroded hatches, you talk to the local agent in this case BLA Distribution Australia, they talk to the manufacturer in this case Lewmar.

3 weeks later

Two new ones have arrived in Far North Queensland from the UK ready to swap over. That's the sort of service we should be writing about on the internet.

Well done to BLA Australia and Lewmar
