The bar on GKI served two types of Rum, Bundy in a can
or Bundy in a glass. So being the Moor sophisticated type I went the glass route to toast Dave's new boat.

Not sure about Dubai rum, but Dave and Hayley will soon be able to sail to any of the rum centres of the world.

If so, I suggest yet another equipment upgrade. One of those magic compasses that Capt Jack Sparrow uses. You know, the one with a needle that points to "where you want to go".

Just be careful not to let it be confused between the direction of the woman and the rum.

I take it, rum (all booze) features quite heavily in the cruising life then.

When I started this thread it was purely intrinsic to try and work out from those that knew which were the right options to buy before I made mistakes and I thought it would be quite a simple process of "this is good / this isn't" and job done. But after 16 pages of solid constructive advice where so many have given opinions and their time to help I think this has become a great resource for anyone buying a Lagoon (or any other cat I guess).

So I hope this can be of help to others thinking of, or in the process of, buying a catamaran - Lagoon certainly seem to sell a lot of them. I was all set to take lots of pics in the lagoon factory and write it all up but cameras were not allowed and they were quite strict on it unfortunately but once she leaves the factory and starts the final phase of the build I'll get some pics on.

Well guys...

Our transport from the factory is booked for this Friday to Yacht Care Services for our next phase of the build.

On Monday, YCS will start on the rigging, mast head light, underwater lights and the copper coat and Robin Marine will start on the generator and water maker install. I imagine all of this will be done in a week and hopefully I can get over to France to be involved but I'm not sure work wise at the moment if I'll make it.

So hopefully we will be on the water in a couple of weeks. I have opted to launch first and then to get the solar and inverter installed. We have all the parts in France already so if we need to we can travel somewhere else to get everything fitted once she's afloat. I have all the plans and know what I want, we just need to find the right company for the install.

It's becoming tangibly close now I can almost smell the salty air.... well I actually can as I'm offshore but anyway.

We are headed to France this week to check up on the progress but I'm expecting she'll be ready for the water by this weekend or midweek the following week. We haven't found anywhere to do the solar install yet but that can wait.

We are homeless at the mo so couldn't be keener to just get onboard and get started. We moved out of our apartment on the 15th of April and have bounced from place to place since then. This weekend has been spent unloading the in laws loft, loading a car, finding it doesn't fit in said car, borrowing a van, driving it all to my dad's to load into his car - also didn't fit - so he can deliver it to France for us. So we've driven the last (it better be, Hayley!) of our stuff back to the in laws to load into a different van that we can borrow this week so we can deliver it to France ourselves. I'm exhausted just reliving it!

I'll get some pics this week and get them on.

Regarding locations - who knows, but the Med is calling...

Hi guys, it's Hayley here...

After losing my hubby to his iPad and Cruisers Forum every night for the last 6 months I thought I should come and take a look myself. Thank you for all the support and advice you've given.

We are currently on our way to Les Sables D'Olonne to see our boat and start unpacking everything I've been buying. I can't wait to get onboard and start making it our home.

Hope you enjoy the journey and new lifestyle. I would suggest you confiscate the I-pad, he will go blind looking at that thing every night, or at the very least it will cost you more money.
