Its finally done! - Lagoon 450 F purchase complete
All,
After a long search, many questions and work, we have completed our purchase of a 2011 Lagoon 450 F 3 Cabin in Turkey.
I'm sitting aboard in the cockpit writing this, with a cup of tea in hand, having taken possession on Friday.
I'd like to thank everyone on this forum for their support and help during this year long process. It was an interesting rollercoaster starting looking at a leopard 39, then a Lagoon 380, a L 440 4 cabin (that we VERY nearly bought !), lagoon 400 (new and old), a NEW Lagoon 42, back to the 400 and finally settling on the 450 F. (And a few other brands along the way)
I'm certain to now have 20,000 questions (most of which will be noob !) over the coming weeks and months, but am sure I can find many answers right here !.
We are now in the process of registering the vessel, and raising the Australian Flag over our new Home.
Boat purchase journey is concluded, but now the real journey begins !.
Regards
Mark

Well done.
Where in Turkey are you?
Our Aussie flagged 450 in Antalya and we will be sailing Turkey until end of July.
Perhaps our paths will cross.

We are currently in Fethiye. Here all next week. Forward plans fluid but we aim to be cruising by end of May. (Some maintenance to do etc)

That's great love to see you post your thoughts and reason for choosing the boat you did. For those of us still struggling with the process

Re: Its finally done! - Lagoon 450 F purchase complete
Will post pics soon, along with more details of the what and why, and other bits about the process. (Good and Bad).
Some thoughts:
I will say that the 450 3 Cabin was our 'dream' boat from very very early on in the process, but was expected to be financially out of reach, and discounted purely on price, which meant many other options were looked at along the way. Part of the change was the ability to afford came through. (Saving, work). (A significant part of the plan was a cash purchase, not a financed one).
Part was the fact we were able to do what a whole bunch of US/Carib brokers said was impossible, which was get a decent 3 Cabin 450 for around 400k. That was done through perseverance, and waiting for the right deal to come along, and finding a broker that was willing to work for us to make it happen, rather than trying to screw every dime out of it. (And a LOT of ringing around).
The boat we ended up purchasing was not yet listed on yacht world, nor were several others we looked at. It appears many deals go on well behind the scenes of the 'published for sale' adds though contacts.
In this process I've come across some yacht brokers/individuals with less than stellar customer service, apparent motivations and ethics.
Regards

Congrats! Great shopping! To help others learn the current economic conditions, would you be ok to share: How many hours on the engine/genie? What options does it have or not have? What maintenance are you expecting right away? Fair winds!
