Thumbs up Insurance, coverage and concerns

Hi
I am new to the forum and currently active in searching for my new boat.
I want the person who owns my 450 right now to take good care of her because I will need her in good shape when I buy it from you.
Having said that, researching insurance is becoming problematic. Mostly because I have only had insurance on boats that stayed in local waters and policies that were bundled with home, car, life etc.
Offshore and out of country the rules change drastically.
The 450 ,as you know, is a newer boat and not cheap. Insurance and good insurance is a must.
This forum is a great resource and I would love Lagoon specific info to guide me. I will be in the Caribbean for the first few years and then off to who knows where.
Thanks in advance
Scott ( Vancouver Island )

Hi Scott

Living in Sidney, BC - ey? I am leaving in 2 weeks from Victoria, BC to pick up our L450 in France. I am just finalizing my insurance with Markle Jack Line.

Re: Insurance, coverage and concerns

Scott

Susan Waters (email: sailor-at-tabbycat-dot-us) got us insurance for our L450. I have owned two mono hulls before operated only in local waters and a few years of local racing. I gave her my US address and it worked great with Jackline.

The company that insures my current mono (HUB) came up more expensive and with restrictions that did not make sense for us (minimum of 3 experienced crew for any trip over 100Nm, no crossing Bay of Biscay before 1 May).

Susan is a sailor herself - see tabbycat.us
