Hull under waterline Lagoon 40 and 400

Hi there,
We are intending to buy a Lagoon 40, I have a question about the hull under waterline. is it balsa cored or solid grp. In technical specs from lagoon 40 it is not specially mentioned. In technical specs from Lagoon 400 and 42 it is mentioned?

Any Lagoon 40 owners? Let me know.
Thanks
Poemy

I found out, all new Lagoons are complete balsa. Also underwater. so the 40, 42, 46 etc is balsa.

Re: Hull under waterline Lagoon 40 and 400

Hmmm,
have to double check that one as to my knowledge ALL lagoons are cored to the waterline but solid GRP below. I read the specs for the 40 and indeed it does indicated that the hull is cored with balsa. On an inspection of a 42 I was advised by a dealer that the hull below the waterline is indeed solid which is what is also stated in the specification sheet. I wonder when the specs say "hull" they are referring to the topsides only and not below the waterline. My old lagoon 410 and our current Lagoon 440 are definitely solid laminate below waterline.

For sure the new ones are solid under water. It is also mentioned in the latests Multi Hulls world special (nr 13) when they test a Lagoon 40. I checked the 40 myself . and there are several youtube movies with visible the balsa below the waterline.

Sorry, I mean Balsa in my last message. For sure they are balsa below waterline. For the 42 see this video around 10.00 minutes you see the parts of balsa and this is below waterline.

The 40 I checked myself.

Re: Hull under waterline Lagoon 40 and 400

I checked the construction details on Lagoons website. All boats, with the exception of the 40, say,"

I'm not sure why the 40 doesn't state this, it only says the hull is cored balsa. Could be a typo. But per their technical sheets, all other boats are solid below the waterline. And despite what that video states, Lagoon says otherwise. Strange.

Re: Hull under waterline Lagoon 40 and 400

42 indeed says hull below waterline is solid. We also checked one in France and it is balsa just like in the movie. It is strange but it is like it is. Also the technical specs of the 46 are not mentioning 'Solid .... below waterline' and the 52 and 77 says ' hull bottom is solid' . This is something different as hull below waterline. The bottom of the 40 and 42 is also solid, only the complete hull below waterline is not.
