Honda BF 20

Hi Guys-I am back in Australia (Boat on the hard in the Med) and I am looking to get a spare prop for my Honda BF 20 (Lagoon Issue) 4 blade and am not sure of the size and pitch
Can anyone help with this information please?

Re: Honda BF 20

I might be able to help with a bit more than just info. I'm working on a cat, fitting new second hand BF 20s. (Never been run)

They have standard props on them, which will need replacing with high thrust props, so the standard ones will probably be available for sale. I'll talk to the owner next time I see him.

In Qld.

Re: Honda BF 20

The Honda BF 20 on my RIB came with a 4 blade 9.25" dia 10" pitch. I believe this is the standard. I replaced it with a 9" pitch and was able to get the loaded RIB on plane much quicker with no noticeable top speed penalty.

I'm now thinking of trying the 8" pitch.

If price is not critical try a stainless they are more efficient than alloy and harder to break.

Hey 44 Cruising Cat;CarlF & Bean Counter,

Thanks for taking the time to help with your replies
I think I will take CarlFs advice and try the 9" prop with 8" pitch as top speed is not that important but planning with 4 people is.
Hopefully less pitch will help as it struggles with the larger pitch at the moment to get up to revs

Call Solas Propellors They are on line or call them on the Sunshine Coast at Warana, these guys will size it exactly for your needs and then quote you on whichever type you want. they have supplied me several times without any issues and always get it right, you need just tell them what your use is and what your outfit is and they will size it.
