Re: floor rotten in Lagoon 420

Floor replacement is now a next summer possible project. Have sailed south with Salty Dawgs to the Caribbean for the winter.

You lucky Dawg! Where does everyone go from there? I follow them on FB, and wish there were more pictures and posts. Spent 2 months in Martinique and now back in Maryland. Not fun.

Re: floor rotten in Lagoon 420

Everyone scatters following their particular dream/plan. Dawgs are independent sailors that run in a well organized pack for safety and fun when doing the 1250 mile transit south/north. Get to meet a lot of other fun sailors and learn a few things in the process. This year we will be exploring the French Islands between BVI and Martinique.

Re: Floor Rotten in Lagoon 420

Sounds like a great experience. I made the trip back to Annapolis in May and it was a bit upsetting. It was my first passage and my captain bailed on me, last minute.

Guadaloupe is beautiful. Make sure to spend a day or two in St. Francis and St. Anne in Martinique.

Thanks, John
I'm having a NEW Lagoon 400 shipped to Tortola on 4 Dec. 2014 to go into charter for 5 years.... I'm just curious as to how you were surprised with this result. Did you board the vessel at all in the last several years?????

Re: Floor Rotten in Lagoon 420

I didn't buy the boat new. I put a deposit on it, the end of 2012, after an inspection. The floor was rotten at the time, but it was still a good buy. I don't understand why Lagoon did not put drains in the freezer and fridge. I also don't understand why they didn't put water diverters over the front windows and sliding door. Until I made the modifications, water would pour in. Doesn't really matter, as I still love the boat.

Re: Floor Rotten in Lagoon 420

Thanks for the lead! The other problem I'm faced with, is cutting the new floor to match the old pattern. If it's not exact, the floor will look horrible. It appears that the original was patterned by machine.
