evolution of the 380 / 380 S2

Hi all

Pretty much settled on a 380 for our family cruising adventure.

Budget will probably limit us to a 2007 model or older, so I would like to better understand how the 380 has evolved - e.g. when were they first manufactured? Are any years of manufacture thought to be any better/worse than others? And what does the 'S2' add in terms of design and equipment - I read an extra fridge, but there must be more...!!

Any other pertinent info would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Dom

Dom, I'm with you. There's a couple of excellent threads here about the buying process of 400 and 450's but like you I'm focussing hard on the 380, probably 2007 to 2010.

Maybe there's already a thread here somewhere that I can't find.

as far as I can see the main diff is the large windows in the hulls, engine noise insulation, a few minor options, nothing major oh and the galley had an update. Interior joinery slight changes in finish and colors. BAsically the same boat but obvious;y newer is less maintanance and better resale etc

Re: evolution of the 380 / 380 S2

Dominiccc, As stated above the main differences are the windows on the sides in the stern births and the engine compartment has better insulation as well as added shelves above the engines for more storage there. The galley changes were minor. I believe the S2's lost staorage space in the bows as well. Everything else pretty much the same. If you haven't been on a 380 we are having demos aboard one at the new Spring boat show">Annapolis Boat show this weekend. PM me if you would like more info. Smooth seas...Sid
