Hi there,
I am about to drill a Ø16mm hole in the
fuel tank, to allow the
fuel pickup line to be installed. My L380
fuel tank has a white plastic bung / reinforcement and I keep getting attracted to drilling the
fuel pickup into this white cap. It looks stronger than the skin of the fuel tank itself, and it is just asking for a sharp drill.
Last time installing a
heater, fuel was picked up via a T-connector, installed right by the fuel tank, tapping into the
engine fuel line. It worked well, but this time I am not able to source the T-connectors locally, and having the fuel tank-pickup kit already here, I decided to do the drilling into the tank.
Any suggestions? Did anyone drill into the white cap, and install the fuel pickup line there?
Any idea why there is a white cap? From the fabrication process of the fuel tank perhaps?
Thanks a for input on this one
