Re: Change for this years model

Would any of you (>300!) L450 owners care to let us know what make and model of windlass is factory installed on your vessel(s)?

We ask because it appears we need to replace the windlass (1600W Quick) on our L440 after what appears to be a combination of neglect by her previous owner and us failing to pick up the problem before critical damage resulted...

Anyway please, what windlass is Lagoon putting on the new 450's...

Our L450-280 has a quick 1712D installed.

Update:
The new sliding door to the cockpit is much better than on the previous L450. It still closes and opens perfectly.

There appears to be a little decline in quality. We have a lot more squeaking noises and more small blemishes on the floor than before.

How does everyone go with the access hole in the roof to get to the flybridge, i know the back area on our 440 is very popular when we are at sea and with clears on one side stays perfectly dry 99% of the time.
Do you get rain and waves pouring down into that area?

Re: Change for this years model

We do get wet when it rains hard. We put some small rails to deflect water around the edges. But when it comes down hard it still gets through. Definitely not 99% dry!
However, the interior access does feel more secure. I feel more comfortable whem my kids go up and down the flybridge without getting close to the life lines.

Regards,

Gonzalo

Thanks Roetter!

That's identical to the windlass that was on our L440...and you don't want to know what it costs to bring out a new one from Italy. So look after yours!!

Mr Roetter
My 450/304 has had a wee delay in its shipping to Spore or I would have confirmed the windlass for you. But I am most curious as to how your SD60’s have been performing? How bid of a spares bag will I need to carry!!

Thanks
Steve

So far so good with the SD60 sail drives. Just over 300 hours each. The one thing Lagoon/Yanmar have not fixed yet is the shaking at idle RPM. I hope they will have a solution soon.

That is what I paid for mine including a good number of options without taxes, no air-con, no generator.

Hi Rolf,

shaking when the clutch is engaged and engine running?`or when free spinning under sail?

Can you "lock" the SD60 while sailing so it does not spin? Do you have the 55HP engines and a folding prop?

BR

Michael

A word of caution...contrary to the (in our experience previously held) 'wisdom' that locking the sail drives when underway will save both noise and wear on the sail drive, reading our Yanmar Manual revealed that locking the sail drive actually voids the warranty! At least on our Yanmar sail drives, they are built to be left in neutral (and thus spin) when underway under sails.

Happily, we can report no shaking. In fact the engines and the sail drives are beautifully smooth...albeit mostly beautifully unused as well!

Only shakes at idle. Some kind of resonance. As soon as the revs go up a tiny bit is stops. Have the folding prop and stop it

I have the folding props and just go into gear to stope them then back to neutral. They stay scolded and do not spin.
