boat insurance

Help, just found out Geico is no longer issuing our boat insurance policy. Need recommendations for our 39 Lagoon which resides in the Bahamas for about 5 months during the winter.

Re: boat insurance

I just found out Geico is not issuing insurance THROUGH its former agents but IS issuing insurance direct to Geico! Our policy was renewed with a call to Geico Marine.

Re: boat insurance

I'd find a real marine insurance company. I don't like Direct insurance companies. There is only one quote and no competition. Companies like Geico or Progressive insurance cars, boats, motorcycles, RV's and Homes. They don't really specialize in anything or have specific knowledge in any one subject.

A Multi-line Agency represents many underwriters and will work to find you a policy that fits you best. You can compare coverage and pricing. I prefer to work with a multi-line agent that represents underwriters that specialize in marine insurance.

Better yet, find a multi-line agency that specializes in marine insurance and carries a variety of marine specific underwriters.

Here is who I use:

They got me a policy through Berkley Marine. I don't know if Berkley writes many Policies south of North Carolina, however MMI represents a number of marine insurance underwriters. There are other marine insurance agencies out there. That is where I would start.

Geico sucks. Read the fine print on depreciation
