Re: Asymmetrical Spinaker Gear

Cyffy;
Good news! After bying, and selling a Parasailor(overkill for daysailing in Croatia, but I often regret parting with it) I am in the prosess of ordering a code 0/gennaker/asymetrcal. At the moment I am heeling towards code 0. Seems like a easy to handle, versatile and forgiving sail for daysailing. But I seriously thought I needed 2:1 halyard. Glad you guys are avalible for advice!

Re: Asymmetrical Spinaker Gear

I have both .

A code 0 with 95 sqm and a 135 sqm top down furling Gennaker.

In my opinion you need a 2:1 halyard.

so much load on it.

On a L 400 you can go 1:1 but not on a 450

if you only go downwind with your 450 with a Parasailor 1:1 is also ok but not

with a code 0 upwind

my 2 cents

Re: Asymmetrical Spinaker Gear

Ok,
I see the difference in size/load.
Looks like I have two options. Either rebuild halyard to 2:1 or by a gennaker/asymetric.

Re: Asymmetrical Spinaker Gear

A dyneema halyard and correct clutch will hold this load for tip down furling. Code 0 and bottom up furling are a different animal.
