Winter Sailing - Pacific North West

I'm spending the winter in the Puget Sound / BC area, waiting for an early start for AK next summer.
Would like to have some crew for short trips or daysails to explore this area until then, on a mutually agreed shared cost basis for the time of the trip.
My boat is a Peterson 44 centre cockpit. Forward stateroom is currently unoccupied.
It already seems like plenty of warm gear is required!!!

Great time to have most of the good places to yourself. Might be a bit nippy this week though. Enjoy.

A great time of year for sailing though it's blowing a gale and the temp is dropping tonight here at Gabriola. I try and get out once a week. There's almost no one out there. Anchorages are mostly empty. Dress overly warm though. Hypothermia sneaks up on you. Make sure you eat too. Good luck finding crew!

I am looking to crew on a sailboat this winter and explore the San Juan's, and then in April head up the Inland Passage. Have raced as part of a crew (grinder) & doubles, enjoy sailing in the "weather" and when the tourists are home! A bit long in the tooth for some at 58, and yet have energy to burn. A good friend is a Motor Captain (100 T) that has done 30+ transports in the Passage and has plenty of good knowledge for anchoring & heaving-to in adverse conditions. Not looking to run 24 hrs/shifts, want to anchor or find mooring at night. Split expenses.

Hey Letamure,

I am interested in crewing this winter, am quite fresh to sailing (several week trip previous summer) but am a hardworker and fast learner.

About me: 24 old male, these last few years a philosophy student in Kamloops BC, now located in Vancouver (Kits). years of work experience in Residential Carpentry and Electrical = mechanically minded.

I moved down from Kamloops because I am totally hooked on sailing. So I am eager and excited to get out on the water.

OK - thanks Brandon.
I have a few things scheduled between now and late Feb, but if all goes to plan I should be sailing from Vancouver back to Port Angeles or Port Townsend around the end of Feb.
Send me a note at steindlj at yahoo

crew in Puget Sound

Le Tamure, I sail in Puget Sound, with bare boat certification from US Sailing. I have interest in the Peterson 44; would be pleased to join you for a day or two. Email available in profile. Just give a shout.

Happy to crew!

Let me know when you are planning your next trip. I would love to come and help sometime. One week is about the max amount of time I could do. A weekend or a couple day trip during the week would be ideal. I am looking for some sailing experiance in the sound and the San Jauns. I am new to this site, so let me know if you are interested and what the best way to contact you is.

Thanks,

Jared McFarland
