Urgent Need NOW for Experienced Crew: BVi to St Martin & St Kitts
One of our current crew required emergency abdominal surgery and must return home to recuperate so we have an urgent need for at least immediate short term crew.
Longer term is desirable as well (see http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post2032395 for details on that, the boat, and the full voyage),
but I'm making this additional urgent post because the boat is stuck in Virgin Gorda BVI until we get another experienced person aboard. There are two aboard, but our insurance requires "three experienced crew".
We need to get to St Martin for some electronics installs, then to St Kitts for bottom paint within the next couple of weeks.
If you might be able to help out, please contact me immediately by PM or rgesner at gmail.com and we'll see what arrangements we can work out.
Thanks - Rusty

And you can't do 80nms without insurance?
And its dead flat calm for the next few days...

Sometimes there are circumstances that you can't operate without it, if there is a loan for example.

A bit harsh, don't you think, Mark? Interestingly, I do this "milk-run" delivery often and since its under a 24hr passage, the insurance companies that I've come across let me do it single-handed. Tony

I'm a bit harsh?
Try getting crew to Virgin Gorda as opposed to St Martin where he needs to be anyway.
There's crew houses in St Martin full to overflowing with crew looking for boats.
Count the crew houses in the BVIs: Zero.
I like your point that its not a passage. 80nms is a daysail.

Well, Mark - you're right about no crew houses in BVI! The trouble with those in SXM is that they are full of wannabe super-yacht crew, not us humble deliverers!

Rusty, I sent you an email a couple weeks ago about doing the Pacific legs and haven't received a reply. Lets talk.

If you come to SXM I think you and I should do an inspection of sailing facilities, starting with the bars...

Re: Urgent Need NOW for Experienced Crew: BVi to St Martin & St Kitts
Yes, of course we could make it there, but there is indeed a loan and even if risk is low, we would rather not take a huge financial loss if the unlikely worst happens. Better safe than sorry. Thank you who made helpful suggestions.
