Sydney to Fiji

Hi, I'm posting again because last time I didn't have enough information. In 7 weeks my visa expires and I'm going to sail my boat from Sydney to Fiji. I'v been doing sailing lessons and researching navigation. By no means am I the perfect captain to do this but Im willing to take a more experienced crew member. Im pretty much flexible with any destination or route, i just want to leave Sydney harbour in 7 weeks. I will be doing many day sails before then so anyone interested feel free to join me sometime.

Hey, good luck to you.

Do you know the cyclone season doesn't officially end until April, and it's an El Nino year so things can be even less stable...

Have you sorted out your insurance?

Very few people leave Australia with insurance. It's just too expensive.

Are you able to get an extension in your visa under special circumstance, just long enough so you aren't pushed at all? Don't want to be reading about you here on CF if you head off in less than the best of weather windows.

I truly hope you have more than $14k invested. I can't see anything only worth that on such an extended cruise. Safety gear alone would be half that.

Welcome to CF by the way.

My thoughts exackery.
I spend a lot more than that just getting my boat ready...
Strokes & folks though...
I bet Captain Ron or Shackletons Captain (Frank Worsley) would do it on a shoe string.

Re: Sydney to Fiji

Wow intense trailer haha and thanks CF is great help so far!! I could get a bridging visa or a student visa and leave the trip till next year so I'm not under any sort of real pressure except the want to be in the ocean. Iv done it pretty cheap so far with most of my gear from gumtree, Iv still electronics to buy but I'll try keep it simple!
