St Martin to Oregon via St Kitts, Panama, Hawaii (join us all or part)

(The person we had lined up for Caribbean to Panama and Hawaii cancelled due to an unexpected demand from his business, so we are in need of at least one, maybe two experienced crew immediately and beyone...

The boat will be in St Martin in a few days.

You should have an easy-going personality and be a team player. You should be reasonably to very experienced in coastal or offshore sailing. Experience in marine electronics and electrical systems and/or in maintaining diesels is also HIGHLY desirable. (We are well equipped and have two 3GM30F's w/ only ~1800 hours, but it's a long trip so we'd prefer someone with skills)

This is a family friendly boat, a couple or a person with a child are welcome providing you fit in one cabin (double bed plus single berth if needed.)

Food is provided and we are not asking for any contribution toward boat expenses; you would only be responsible for your transportation, fees, and incidentals. Everyone shares watches, chores and maintenance to the best of their abilities.

The ship is a comfortable Shuttleworth 43 catamaran, beautiful and sound inside and out and well equipped: new Radar, new AIS transceiver, Sat Phone & Data, mostly new rigging, new sails arriving St Kitts, plenty of new safety gear, etc.

This isn't a fast delivery, we're trying to enjoy the islands and have fun while observing appropriate weather windows and currents/winds.

Taunya, the master, is liberal in mindset and has her 16 and 9 year old daughters with her. Unfortunately I, Rusty, have to stay home and work (we'll be starting our real cruising life when I retire in 3 years.) Taunya has have been building up experience over the last few years, including an intensive course through Sea Semester that included 4 weeks on the water in passage from St. Croix to Bermuda and Bermuda to NYC on a 135' Brigantine tall ship. During that time she covered approximately ASA 101 - 108 equivalent with a mate hanging over her shoulder and giving her advice. There is two other experienced crew members on board, but we would like a another to share the load and fun.

If you are interested in coming along for some or all of the voyage, tell us about your experience and skills.

How long of a time frame are you thinking it will take to get to Hawaii?
Once you get to Hawaii do want us off the boat or are you island hopping and we would be open to that as well?
Can you tell us a little bit more about your typical day to day?
How often do you plan on going ashore?

Thanks!

Panama to Hawaii could take 4-6 weeks. They plan to cruise in Hawaii for 2-3 weeks before I join them and head to Oregon. Crew is welcome to stay and enjoy that. They typically anchor out or get a mooring ball and go ashore frequently, sometimes daily. Most on the boat are SCUBA certified, and most at least snorkel daily. PM me your email and I can have Taunya tell you more about typical days or I can send you a blog link. - Rusty

Dates are always variable when sailing ...

From BVI to St Martin/Maarten as soon as possible,

Then St Kitts and possibly back to St Martin (getting new sails delivered either there or St Kitts) about March 1,

Then across to Panama, transit canal and hopefully cruise Las Perlas before heading to Hawaii end of March or beginning of April

Cruise Hawaii 2-3 weeks, then head to Oregon mid/late May

Arrive Portland mid-June

Ok, Thank you. I am Hawaii based and thinking about catching up ride to Portland but at the later than May dates.

Do you have web page where I can check progress of your voyage?

Father and son pair ready to go in a week. Can be gone till April. Father has some bluewater experience (deliver from Mystic, CT to St. Thomas USVI). We've hiked the Appalachian Trail, fished the Amazon and travel well. Can share costs and can go in a week.

Thanks for the reply.
We have two other good people joining us on Saturday, so looks like we should be set for now.
There may be other spots early March (St Martin to Panama) or beginning of April (Panama to Hawaii). We are talking to a few people on those, and will know better in a couple weeks.
