Crew Available: Slightly discouraged :( Central Am - Pacific hopeful!

Any advice for first time crew seekers? We are mid 30's Canadian couple with some but not alot of sailing experience. Really looking forward to the opportunity of a lifetime sailing from Central America to the Pacific as we are in a place where time and finances work out to do such. Would appreciate hearing from those with experience what we should do. Go to Mexico pacific coast and dock walk or Panama? Many posts say they are open to couples with inexperience but minimal ever reply. We both have great resumes/references and life experience. Crossing my fingers and toes!
