Job Description:
Skippers or Sailing Captains needed in the
Caribbean for summer
live-aboard diving, sailing and
Marine Science programs for teens and college students. Instructor’s duties far exceed "skippering" a yacht. Captains are expected to help out in all aspects of the program from
scuba diving, to water-skiing, to chaperoning teenagers 24/7. These responsibilities also include working on outboards,
dinghy repairs, construction, stocking
food, repairing
gear, running errands, and inventory; in addition to assisting the dive instructor on board.
Qualifications:
• Licensed US Coast Guard
Captain, Yacht Master or equivalent experience.
• Operate a yacht over 45 feet, from standard operations to sail
training.
•
Small boat handling skills. You will be expected to regularly operate RIBs and small boats with 6hp to 50hp outboards.
• Ability to confidently
anchor in tight
anchorages, maneuver in tight harbors under
power and understand basic yacht and
diesel engine maintenance.
• Experience in overnight sailing trips/deliveries/chartering.
• Experience working with teens and young adults preferred.
• Knowledge of sailing rules of the road to teach sailing certifications to students.
• Knowledge of course plotting and coastal
navigation to teach students.
