Sailing to USA

This is just a friendly reminder to the many sailors who would like to sail to our beautiful and mostly welcoming country.
If you are not a US citizen or resident you absolutely need a Visa in order to be allowed in. However if you don't have a Visa it is the boat owner/captain that is responsible for paying for your flight home.
Many of you can fly here on a commercial flight and be granted a waiver. But that is not allowed if you arrive by private boat.
If you are coming here or just think you might arrive here go to the nearest US embassy and apply for a tourist visa. All it takes is time and a little money, but less time and money than being deported.

Good luck. [emoji106]

I hope Capt Andrew did not pay an expensive lesson to learn this.

I wonder for how long will Cubans get special treatment on this.

Advice doesn't apply to Canadians. We, and the US, have had a special cross border system for years, even though it is getting tougher now. Heck, we even share security information in real time, and the moment you enter one of the two countries, the other one knows you left theirs.

Agreed. I didn't mention that exemption.

Not personally, but I did witness it.
