Sailing to Europe from US via Bermuda and Azores in May

Hello all. After 15 months of refitting and 3000 nm shakedown cruise we are ready to take our 44' Privilege 435 sailing catamaran to the Med. The plan is to sail from Beaufort NC to Bermuda around May 1 and then Bermuda to Azores around May 10. Azores to Portugal May 28.

The boat is equipped with:
-all new rigging and sails.
-Epirb x 4
- 8 man Revere offshore elite life raft
- Satellite phone
- 2 new Beta 38 diesels
- Raymarine ST60 instruments and Autopilot
- spare autopilot
- SSB and VHF radio
-drogue and sea anchor

This is a very comfortable and safe cruising catamaran.

I am looking for experienced crew. Please no newcomers. No smoking and no drug or alcohol abuse. If you have had experience sailing big cats then even better.

Please respond to this post or PM me if interested.

Thanks Atoll. I've read through your How Safe is sailing to the Azores? Thread from last year. Lots of good info there.

Out of time for me, I must necessarily be at my job by June 1, otherwise I would have liked to do my second experience of Atlantic crossing. Have a good trip!

Re: Sailing to Europe from US via Bermuda and Azores in May

I'm retired and available any time. I have 25 years experience, but only on monohulls. I teach celestial navigation and would be willing to teach anyone onboard if they desire. I'm looking for some extended bluewater experience to see if I want to buy a boat more suited to bluewater cruising. Non-smoker, never touch drugs, excellent condition for a 66 year old.

Re: Sailing to Europe from US via Bermuda and Azores in May

Update:
Will be leaving from St Augustine instead of Beaufort.
Have crew for St Augustine to Bermuda and am talking to prospective crew for the remainder.
Thanks for the responses!

Cheers

Pat
